FCSR’s quarterly briefing was held in early April at the beautiful Belleair Island home of Brian and June Zwan. The event started off with some fabulous breakfast treats cooked by June and her crew.
Joanie Sigal briefed members and guests on FCSR’s activities and traced the history of FCSR and why the organization was formed. She talked about the importance of FCSR as a focal point for social reform advocacy and lobbying, and how the group can change public policy through the governmental process. Joanie also detailed some of the upcoming events that FCSR will sponsor and how individuals can be involved at any level of FCSR that fits their purposes.
She briefed the group on her recent meeting with Florida’s Lieutenant Governor Toni Jennings while she was in Tallahassee, and how the majority of legislators and government officials really do want to make things better in Florida.
Mary Repper, political consultant and FCSR Advisory Board member explained in great detail how the political process works and how a small but well organized group can have a positive influence on social issues.
Brett Miller spoke about the wins in assisting the Home Builders Institute with their Project Craft and he had some very exciting announcements, which are planned for release at the upcoming FCSR event featuring Dr. Clayton Wilcox.
